Vincent Van Gogh was entirely devoted to absinthe. Van Gogh's contemporaries testified that the artist saw it regularly.
Thujone (an extract of wormwood, absinthe main active ingredient) has a positive effect on performance, but an overdose leads to perception of color change: a person sees everything in shades of yellow, "yellow effect".
However, for Van Gogh, it is known that he was suffering from serious mental disorders and except absinthe did not disdain any other substance.
